Safe Sleep Steps for Babies

Make sure that everyone caring for your baby knows about…

Sleep baby on their back for every nap and at nighttime.

Alone in the crib…that is how baby should sleep for nap and nighttime.
Firm mattress and safety approved crib should be used.
Ensure that baby’s room has good air circulation by using a fan.

Smoking should be avoided while you are pregnant and after baby is born.
Leave pillows, quilts, comforters, stuffed toys, bumper pads
and “positioners” out of crib when baby sleeps.
Educators recommend putting baby with feet at the foot of the crib with the
blanket tucked in securely, coming up no higher than the baby’s chest.
A Halo Sleep Sack or blanket sleeper could be used instead of a blanket.
Experts recommend giving babies a pacifier at nap and nighttime
for the first year of life, if they will take one.
Protect baby from becoming overheated. Don’t overdress baby.
Keep the room temperture between 68-72 degrees. If you take baby out;
don’t forget to uncover, unwrap & unzip them when you are indoors or in a warm car.
